Our vision is that every child should learn to read well. There has never been a more important time for our work.
We provide one-to-one reading support for children both at school and in their homes via three different means; face-to-face reading in classrooms, online reading support sessions and through the Schoolreaders Storytime video library.
We recruit volunteers to listen to children read in primary schools. One-to-one practice with the support of an attentive adult helps improve children's reading fluency and is a crucial supplement to classroom teaching. As many as one in four children left primary school in 2019 unable to read well*, and the situation has been made worse by the Covid-19 crisis. Help children catch up on vital reading skills by volunteering, donating or supporting us - you'll be making a life-changing difference to a child who needs your help.
