Come and join the second largest marathon in the UK and the fourth most popular in Europe.
Whether you’re a first-time marathon runner or a seasoned pro, Manchester attracts all abilities. Famous for it’s fast, flat and friendly route the marathon starts at Old Trafford then takes you north through the city centre before heading down to Sale and Altringham. You’ll then head back for your finish at Old Trafford.
A great marathon for PB’s as it’s fairly flat. You’ll also receive a friendly Mancunian welcome from the thousands of spectators ready to cheer you on, on race day.
You’ll also be doing something truly amazing by taking on this iconic marathon. Raising a minimum of £400 will support 10 children with one-to-one reading support from a Schoolreaders volunteer, for a full academic year. That’s a third of a classroom of children.
Providing those children with a gift of literacy will change lives forever. We thank you for thinking of Schoolreaders.

When is the 2026 Manchester Marathon?
The 2026 Manchester Marathon is Sunday19th April 2026.
What’s the registration fee and fundraising target for the Manchester Marathon?
The registration fee is £45, payable on initial sign up and the fundraising target is at least £400. You’ll need to show evidence of committing to your fundraising target and be contactable prior to the withdrawal deadline of 24th October 2025 otherwise we reserve the right to withdraw your place.
How can I get a place in the 2026 Manchester Marathon?

How do I get started with my fundraising?
You can set up a fundraising page and receive your free fundraising pack easily via Enthuse, here.
Your account manager will be in touch once you sign up to chat through your fundraising plans and provide full support.

Will the charity book accommodation and travel for me?
Each participant will need to arrange their own accommodation and travel to the Manchester Marathon. You’ll find links to booking accommodation on the event organisers website.
