  • Thanks to Schoolreaders' funders and supporters

Thank you to those who make our work possible Our Corporate Supporters include: TRITAX BIG BOX Since 2019, Schoolreaders has partnered with Tritax Big Box REIT Plc, specialist investors in large logistics warehouse assets throughout the UK. Tritax Big Box was Schoolreaders’ first corporate partner and renewed its partnership in 2023 to support children in regions where their assets are based. Petrina Austin, Head of Asset Management at Tritax Big Box, comments: “Children who enter secondary school as confident readers are empowered to thrive. Conversely, poor literacy can have lifelong – even cross-generational – consequences. We’re delighted to support Schoolreaders, and its network of inspirational volunteers, in enhancing young people’s lives and academic prospects – bringing long-term benefits to communities across the UK.” TIMES TABLES ROCK STARS Our partnership with Times Tables Rock Stars started when they became the main sponsor for our 2019 'Be a Superstar for Schoolreaders’ campaign. TTRS, which offers award-winning programmes for times tables practice across several different platforms, have now generously pledged to continue their support this year. Nicola Reddy of TTRS says 'Whilst we are very passionate about maths, we also believe in the power of being literate and the joy of reading. Literacy is the foundation for all disciplines. Without the ability to read, write and think, other subject areas, such as maths, become a bigger challenge for students'. • Raise funds to help us give UK children reading support

Fundraising during the coronavirus crisis Thank you for visiting this page and for considering how you might fundraise for us. While it is not yet clear when classrooms will be full again, it is certain that when they do return the need for reading support will be greater than ever. Your fundraising efforts will mean that we can help many children whose reading has stalled during their enforced absence from lessons - and you may even enjoy some of these unusual opportunities! DECLUTTER AND DONATE! Could this be the right moment for the ultimate spring clean? If you're considering decluttering, you can donate the value of unwanted books, games, DVDs and CDS to Schoolreaders easily using Ziffit. Virgin Money Giving has teamed up with Ziffit, a free trade-in site and app that instantly values your unwanted items and sells them for you, passing on funds raised to Schoolreaders. Simply download the Ziffit app, and get selling - it's quick and easy and there's no cost to you. Click here to find out more. SET YOURSELF A 2.6 CHALLENGE Schoolreaders, like many other charities, normally receives donations from wonderful individuals who undertake sporting challenges on our behalf. The London Marathon alone accounts for more than £60 million of donations to charities each year. The 2.6 Challenge has been set up to make up for the shortfall in these donations caused by the coronavirus crisis. The idea is a simple one; complete any athletic challenge based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 (the number was chosen to mark the cancelled marathon). It can be as simple as 26 star jumps in your sitting room, or as arduous as climbing your stairs 26 times. As the 2.6 organisers say, "Whatever your age or ability, you can take part. After all, we’re not looking for superheroes. We’re looking for Home Heroes". Please do a 2.6 challenge for Schoolreaders! Click here to find out more.

  • Help us by donating, fundraising or volunteering

How can you help? We are a very cost-efficient charity and can provide a weekly one-to-one reading support session for a child for a whole academic year for an average of just £30. What a small amount to transform a child's opportunities in life! Schoolreaders is the only national charity to offer reading support to schools for free. This means that any child who needs support, regardless of the financial circumstances of their school, can benefit. While our volunteers generously give their time for nothing, we still have to raise funds to administer the scheme. Our small paid team matches volunteers with schools and supports both thereafter, ensuring that the relationship between the two is long-lasting and rewarding for both.
