The report, which has been produced for The Reading Agency by leading think tank Demos, says that reading can help people feel more connected. The report also suggests that if the benefits of reading are to reach large numbers of people, significant government intervention is needed, with a £200-million cash injection and a nationwide charitable event along the lines of Sport Relief among the ideas proposed.
