We are delighted to introduce the newest Student Ambassadors from Gresham’s School, who will be championing the work of Schoolreaders. These ambassadors will play a key role in raising awareness among their peers and the wider community, as well as supporting fundraising initiatives to make a meaningful difference to children's literacy.
Meet Katie
"Hello, I’m Katie, and this is my sixth year at Gresham’s School. Reading has always been a significant part of my life, shaping the choices I’ve made and inspiring my passions. My love of reading first led me to volunteer at my local primary school, the very school I attended before joining Gresham’s, helping children develop their reading skills during the school term and in my holidays.
This experience was incredibly rewarding and inspired me to join the team supporting Schoolreaders. I know firsthand how transformative extra support with reading can be for children, and I am passionate about helping the charity continue its vital work to give every child the confidence and skills they need to succeed."
Meet Lewis
"My name is Lewis, and I have just joined Gresham’s School this year. My educational journey began in the state school system, where I received external reading support. That support helped me improve my literacy skills and instilled a lifelong passion for learning, which has been instrumental in earning me an academic scholarship to Gresham’s.
Outside of the classroom, I am a keen athlete and play academy rugby for Leicester Tigers. Combining my love of reading with my sporting background, I was especially inspired by the Race for Reading initiative. I am eager to drive our fundraising efforts and help make a real difference for children through this fantastic charity."
Looking Ahead
Our new Student Ambassadors are excited to raise awareness, organise fundraising events, and encourage their fellow students to get involved. Through their dedication and passion, Gresham’s hopes to support Schoolreaders in making a lasting impact on children’s lives- helping them gain confidence, skills, and a love of reading that will stay with them forever.
If you know of any young people keen to support Schoolreaders, they can also join us as Community Champions. Find out more here: https://www.schoolreaders.org/inyourcounty
