Levison Wood Joins the Race for Reading!

At Schoolreaders, we’re delighted to have launched the Race for Reading 2026, and even more excited to have the support of Levison Wood as he takes on the challenge this May.

Race for Reading invites you to move 40 miles across the month of May, raising vital funds to help children improve their reading. It’s a simple challenge, but it can make a world of difference. Every £40 raised will fund a full year of weekly one-to-one reading support for a child.

In this National Year of Reading, the challenge feels more important than ever. Right now, one in four children leave primary school unable to read to the expected standard, something that can have a lasting impact on their confidence, education and future opportunities. Through the Race for Reading, you can help us change those children's life stories.

We’re proud to have Levison Wood joining us this year. An author, photographer and television presenter, Levison is best known for his remarkable expeditions through some of the world’s most remote regions, including his acclaimed series 'Walking the Nile' and 'Walking the Himalayas'. He has written twelve best-selling books inspired by his travels and is a passionate advocate for the power of literacy and the written word.

This May, Levison will be taking on 40 miles to support children’s literacy - and he’s encouraging others to do the same.

Whether you choose to walk, run, cycle or swim, you can take on 40 miles your way and be part of a collective effort to ensure more children receive the reading support they need.
