The National Year of Reading has begun, and we are delighted that our work has already received strong national media coverage, helping to raise awareness of the importance of reading and driving interest in Schoolreaders’ work.
Engagement & Outreach Coordinator Susan recently took part in an interview with BBC Look North at Barton St Peters Primary School in Lincolnshire. The feature has since been published on the BBC News website and is expected to air on television later this week, so do stay tuned!
The response to the BBC coverage has been extremely encouraging, with more than 180 applications received from across the country, many of which directly reference the online article.

In addition to the BBC feature, Schoolreaders has also been highlighted in the Daily Express, with an interview with CEO Sally Wrampling appearing both online and in print. The article draws national attention to the challenges facing children’s reading and the importance of support from trained volunteers.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in supporting this media activity. This coverage will continue to increase awareness of the National Year of Reading and encourage more schools and volunteers to join us as we work towards improving children's literacy and life-chances.
